She shouted for help but almost everyone was in panic. Her comrades were either injured or dead during the scene. The NRD agent, Pennie assisted Young by activating the water system around the streets. Huge number of manholes were forced open because of the washing gushing out from it. The water was then directed to the burning building by another Natural who was a water user. He too was an NRD agent named Akuparl.      “Is there anyone inside?”, asked Pennie.      “My partner is inside. Save him please!”, she said while in shocked.      “I will. Call in Patient Zero now. I need his help.”, Pennie asked for backup. A group of NRD agents exited their vehicle and out comes a man who was around his 20s. The agents gave Z...

The Future: Part 9: Encounter, Night time

Part 9: Encounter, Night time Damon while walking in the streets of New KL was with a loud and unsatisfied stomach; in fact, he was just hungry. He noticed a bunch of guys walking down to an alleyway with strange hoods and masks. The masks was shining from where the hooded group were. At first Damon was hesitant about whether to follow the suspicious group to an exciting and dangerous place which he doesn’t know about or to Chinese restaurant which could result in his stomach being happy.      He paused for a bit before following the mysterious group to the alleyway.      “It’s not like I get to do this again when I’m old.”, he thought to himself as he walks sneakily and discreetly behind the hooded group. He went all sneaky-sneaky into the alleyway.      Damon chose to be friends with the shadow as he makes his way to where the masked group were going. He made his way to an abandon building with a steel door shut f...

The Future: Part 8: A visit to Damon’s abode

Part 8: A visit to Damon’s abode Damon wakes up again as he would everyday. He had physical education yesterday and was injured while playing basketball, apparently he bruised his right arm. As a result, his parents were fine with him not going to school for a day. He was happy that he was sick because that was the only viable reason for him to sleep-in.      “Just make sure you take your meds and lunch later.”, said Damon’s mother.      “I will ma’.”, he replied while still on the bed covered with blankets.      “Make sure to clean your room while you’re at it.”, added Damon’s mother.      Damon did as instructed by her mother and took a breather after lunch by playing video console games. It was a 3D-ish console game where the player has to equip a visible white lens. The lens worked as a medium for players to interact with the game world. After an hour or so, his doorbell rang and on the opp...

The Future: Part 7: Ready? Ready?

Part 7: Ready? Ready? The patient in the Podium received his medical treatment for the after-procedure. [1]   The Doctor observed his patient from the monitor hoping for something to turn up.      “How’s patient Zero? Any progress at all Doctor?”, the Councilor asked.      “Nothing much mister Councilor. His vital signs however shows much progress. He will come to after enough rest.”, said the Doctor as the Councilor leaves the monitor room. Rows of canisters were stored in the Cold Storage Room with a label on it, Perfect Solution. The Doctor ordered his staff to handle with care when moving the Perfect Solution to another facility. Elsewhere in the Podium, numerous numbers of people in what it seemed to be a prison cell shouting and screaming begging for help and a need to contact the outside world.      “Please, let me out! Please!”, said one female prisoner who seems to be around her 20s.   ...

The Future: Part 6: Kiss Part 2

Part 6: Kiss Part 2 While Fira gracefully places her textbooks and pencil case inside her bag, Damon hastily and aggressively placed his school materials as if he was in a middle of a thunderstorm. Damon walked back home with Fira after school, they had already made plans to hang out at the local diner.  “So, what was that about in the morning? All sweaty. You’re lucky you’re a girl because all girls smell nice.”, said Damon. “All girls smell nice?” “It’s like magic and don’t try to change the topic.”, Damon replied. “I wasn’t trying to change the topic.”, said Fira as she unties her school ribbon from her head, freeing her hair. “You know, I’m liking your hair color. Is it natural or did you dyed it?”, Damon asked. “Now who’s the one changing topics here? And yes it’s natural I suppose.” “You suppose?” From there on, the topic about what happened in the morning was evidently replaced with a mountain of off topics that both Damon and Fira came up with. ...

The Future: Part 5: Present tense

Part 5: Present tense Two weeks at school and the homework starts piling up into hills. Damon wakes up to the loud siren of his alarm. He lazily gets up from his bed and heads downstairs soon after. He greets his family as he usually does every day without a miss but the only person he does not greet is his elder brother, Nuway. Aside from the usual route to his school, his daily routine sometime changes or so he wants to believe. He just uses another route to school. He wonders if he has any powers like those Naturals. Not many Naturals dare to use their powers as they are afraid of people talking behind their backs and also the fear of being incarcerated into the Podium. The looks the normal humans give off are uncomfortable as they too have a reason to be such. After the incident which resulted in the city centre being a battleground caused by Naturals, people start to fear of what is to come. “Morning Baba! It’s a good day today!”, said Damon to the old lady. He kn...
