THREE
He exited his apartment with his confidence of the day which in layman’s language means, a smile on his face. Generally, he would take the bus to the main campus but today, it is a bit different, he walks.
Strangely, his surroundings seem to give off positive vibes. It was as if God had bestowed the young man good fortune or maybe it was just his lucky day. Who knows what might have caused this but Sam is - happy.
Far from where Sam currently is, was Susan packing her stuff - her books, her pencil case and her lady needs. Now, the people around her which includes her neighbors, the neighbor’s cats, the neighbor’s dogs, her closest friend, and her family find her to be in the gloomy side most or if not all the time but today, she seems different.
Susan’s mother thought of it as ‘Odd’ but nonetheless the mother was happy to see her daughter being happy. Her father however, was pretty much as dense as Sam, an ‘Oblivious Lana Lang’.
She studies diligently in class, focus and tries her best not to doze off while the lecturer was lecturing. Occasionally, her mind would drift away somewhere to a place only she could possibly go, her head. She thinks of the young man she had only just met, Sam who she find to be an interesting character.
It was probably his good looks or his charming attitude that got her attention but as she tries to find the answer for such a problematic question, it always seem fade away from her grip.
Sam takes out his notebook but without fail, he leaves it empty while the lecture was going on. It is a ritual he partakes each time he attends class. Fortunately, his grades do not fail him. Like Susan, he enters a state of calmness and the flow of time slows down.
He thinks of her as she has thought of him. He searches for the answer of why but what he got was the when.
“When can I see her? Hmmmm….”
There was no bell to signify the end of class but his phone possessed the capabilities of telling time, and so he waits - patiently.
“God damn when is this class going to end?” he thought to himself.
“It’s almost time.” she thought to herself.
As the clock ticks to 11.45AM, they quickly left their desk and exited the classroom.
Why? They were obviously impatient.
Susan covered her impatience by walking a little faster while Sam, he too walked a little faster but it was apparent that he was hasty in his pacing.
They both reached at the promised spot in the same, exactly at 11.48AM.
“I thought you’d be late.” said Sam.
“I didn’t want to keep you waiting.” she answered.
“Shall we?” as he takes a seat not before offering Susan to sit down.
She looks into his eyes and passionately answers, “I think we shall.”
Today, Sam did not write anything as Susan came by to his apartment.
